CRA Collection Actions

After being reassessed or just being assessed and if there is money owing, you are given a short time to pay the debt. If you fail to make any payments, the CRA collection department will commence collection actions. if you ignore the calls, CRA will place a lien on your dwellings, and continue to call you. You might consider it harassment, but all they want is their outstanding debt settled. However, on the positive side there are that taxpayers can use to limit these collection calls

The most commonly employed tools are the offer in comprise and installment agreements. There is no waiver or compromise on the tax that is owed nor on the interest that is owed. If a taxpayer has financial difficulty, there is only one approach. A letter should be written by a tax specialist to the fairness committee for relief of interest and penalties.
